New Abstract Landscape Paintings in the Shop.
I've been trying to take a walk around my local area every morning, and I have to say, being out in nature really lifts my spirits!
It's no wonder that the landscape has started to show up in my art as well.

I think by now everyone knows there are great benefits to spending time in nature. It helps stir up a wealth of positive emotions, including calmness, creativity and joy. If you're stressed a good walk in a green space helps calm you down and if you make exercising outdoors a regular part of your routine the benefits will multiply - not only will you be fitter, you'll absorb more protective vitamin D, and you're likely to sleep better too!

You might wonder why artists choose to paint landscapes...?
There are several reasons for this, one being that it’s a practice that has been around for a very long time, centuries in fact. Artists enjoy connecting with this rich history. Painting landscapes allows artists to express their feelings, and viewers can interpret the art in their own ways, making it a personal experience. Additionally, artists often appreciate the natural shapes, colours, and light in the outdoors because of the natural emotions they evoke. That's why I enjoy painting landscapes too.
Winter Walk (c) Julia Laing 2024
When I get home from my walks, I find myself daydreaming about all the amazing places I've visited. The beautiful light and vibrant colors of the sky and trees just linger in my thoughts and when I go to paint I try to capture the memories of the landscape and convey the experience of being in nature through my artwork.

People love having landscape paintings in their homes because they really help bring some nature inside, making our space look great and helping us feel connected to the outdoors, even when we can't go outside. Plus, they add visual appeal.
