So, on the final day of the month, it's time for a review of my experience of Me Made May. To recap here's the pledge I made:
I, Julia Laing, sign up as a participant of Me Made May 2019. I endeavour to: prioritise wearing me made clothes and accessories, mend and improve all my existing clothes, so every item in my wardrobe is wearable and make at least one new outfit, using materials I already own, in May 2019.
Yesterday I updated my shop with three paper patchwork pieces. They were made around May 2017 but this is the first time they've been available to buy. The starting point was a series of small prints and drawings based on dressmaking pins, which I decided to reuse as the basis for the paper patchwork pieces...
This is the first in a series of posts devoted to individual colours, mixing in a few facts with my personal opinions and some colour inspiration images. Orange is my starting point purely because I love its warm happy glow!
Now in its 10th year the social media powered exhibition has raised approximately £50,000 for charities around the world. Each year at least 1000 artists worldwide sign up to donate a postcard sized artwork to be sold at the exhibition and then later online.
