A unique richly textured textile art work, that I've called, Who Is Behind The Mask?
This piece was made completely by hand in my home studio, near Edinburgh.
It features the mask-like image of a woman's face, which I was inspired to sew after seeing the cover of a vintage Vogue magazine. Her intense blank stare is haunting but hopefully beautiful too.
A number of processes were involved in making - The fabric itself was created by piecing together lots of scraps of different fabrics, sandwiching them between a cotton backing and pink voile fabric, I then used my sewing machine to stitch the layers together, with a combination of stripes and patterns drawn freehand.
The face was then stitched and sequins added by hand.
UNFRAMED, mounted on an off-white backing board with (removable) masking tape.
Materials
Mixed fabrics, including cotton, linen, nylon, polyester thread, cotton embroidery thread and sequins.
Measurements
Textile measures 9.5cm wide by 16.5cm tall.
Backing board is A5 size (15cm x 21cm)
All measurements are approximate.
Will be well packaged so it arrives in excellent condition.
